Concise Oxford English Dictionary: Thumb EditionI agree with the other reviewers in that Concise Oxford English Dictionary: Thumb Edition rambled far too much with the heroine's inner monologue. I had to start skipping paragraphs then pages otherwise I would have stopped reading Concise Oxford English Dictionary: Thumb Edition entirely. The plot is good, but the author does not do a good job at fleshing out the plot and there are entirely too many loose ends. I've never read any of her other books so cannot compare.
Davy Crockett and the Wild Cat (Instant Readers)Davy Crockett and the Wild Cat (Instant Readers) is very nice considering the age of the author. Easy to read, nice story, interesting characters. I think I would read the next book in the series when it comes out.
The Change Masters: Corporate Entrepreneurs at Work by Kanter, Rosabeth MossMy daughter has comprehension problems and does much better when reading along with someone. She was able to listen to The Change Masters: Corporate Entrepreneurs at Work by Kanter, Rosabeth Moss being read and follow along with the printed copy on our computer. She understood it and did very well on the tests.
The Chief ExecutiveI got The Chief Executive before my baby was born because it was classified under comedy and because I grew up going to a French school thinking it would be a funny read. After reading part of it, it fell to me that the author was stretching to make a case for why it is worth following the French in parenting. I did not find it a humorous read either.
No-Party Democracy in Uganda. Myths and RealitiesIn general, I'm not a fan of time travel. I only read No-Party Democracy in Uganda. Myths and Realities because someone gave it to me. However, I must say this was done well. It is a love story, a modern-day fairy tale. It was a very few times confusing, especially when the time traveler would have 2 personas on earth at the same time, or would come back before the time he left!
My PerspectiveI recently used My Perspective during my lesson on fractured fairy tales. The students really enjoyed comparing and contrasting this version to the original fairy tale. You know that there are always two sides to every story.
Abschied vom Mythos Mann: Kulturelle Konzepte der Moderne (Abhandlungen Zur Musikgeschichte)Even in this era of iphones & GPS I would not dream of traveling abroad without Abschied vom Mythos Mann: Kulturelle Konzepte der Moderne (Abhandlungen Zur Musikgeschichte) like this. It's packed with very useful information and photos and sample itineraries. I like that it lists sample visits based on how much time you have to spend. Plus it doesn't run out of power or needs a cell or data connection to work!
Villes en Gascogne (French Edition)I truly enjoyed Villes en Gascogne (French Edition). The characters were so funny. I was so proud when the mother-in-law finally started to act human! Faith's antics were hilarious!
AB+Me(l') (French Edition)I loved this story and would've given it five stars if there hadn't been a lot of spelling errors. The story itself was a great love story and again contained all aspects of a good romance novel without the smut. I would still very much recommend AB+Me(l') (French Edition) to anyone who really loves highland romance.
Les Aphrodites Ou Fragments Thali-Priapiques Pour Servir A L Histoire Du Plaisir. Numero 3 (Litterature) (French Edition)I picked up Les Aphrodites Ou Fragments Thali-Priapiques Pour Servir A L Histoire Du Plaisir. Numero 3 (Litterature) (French Edition) at a used book store. It was in a bin of little books for a dollar. It is small, 4x4, so you can tuck it in a purse or a pocket. It is good reading when you are stuck somewhere, like in a line, or waiting for the car to be fixed, and recharge you with some soundbites of wisdom. He says that happiness is not an event or a feeling, but the quality of a whole life. How true!
Transforming Clinical Development Performance Through Benchmarking and Metrics: Techniques to Improve Drug Development Processes and QualityI was not sure what to expect from Transforming Clinical Development Performance Through Benchmarking and Metrics: Techniques to Improve Drug Development Processes and Quality, the title, not the cover gave me no incite. The story was good, I liked the flow, but it ended with a lot of ends dangling, I know there is to be another book in the fall, but that did not help the way I felt and the questions I had, when Transforming Clinical Development Performance Through Benchmarking and Metrics: Techniques to Improve Drug Development Processes and Quality was done, hope I will get them answered if I buy the other book.
Ford Escort Mechanics (Car Mechanics)i really loved the historical story and action in Ford Escort Mechanics (Car Mechanics) . the sex scenes were very nice . i cant wait to read more stories from this author .
Modern Consumer TheoryFirst let me say that it was a good story. My main issue was that I didn't have a good grasp of what the characters looked like. I didn't even realize they were black until I was well into Modern Consumer Theory. Which is not a problem but it left me having to make up the faces and bodies. I loved that it had a HEA.
The Way Back (Masks)The Way Back (Masks) just did not work for me. The writing seemed stilted, the characters were not consistent in their behaviors, thinking or actions. I found myself getting irritated when the main character would say or think one thing and then do something contrary to her words/thought. I had to struggle to continue reading past 30 or so pages so I just gave up.
Tutoring in Open Learning (Framework)MY first read by this author.I might look something else by this author The story was okay. It was not a page turner but I did finish Tutoring in Open Learning (Framework).
Grenville and the Lost Colony of RoanokeGrenville and the Lost Colony of Roanoke is rather excellent. It provides insight for those without any formal business or investment knowledge into the realm of biotech. The author does a great job of explaining the science behind each company investigated, which is good for those lacking in this arena.I strongly recommend this one.
Pocket Puzzles: SudokuPocket Puzzles: Sudoku was charmingly sweet and fun. I loved it as a light, fun weekend read. There was sweet romance, humor and a little intrigue as well.
Exploring Geometry (Mathskills)I quite enjoyed the story and character interaction but it was missing something for me. I need more character growth, details, interaction for this type of storyline. A feel like the flavor of Exploring Geometry (Mathskills) was good but it was missing some important notes to knock it up a notch.
The Complete Poems of John Milton: The Five Foot Shelf of Classics, Vol. IV (in 51 Volumes)Great story. Cruise is swoon worthy. The way he meets Kenny at a party and instantly changes his player ways is sweet. I always hate the drama that breaks up a couple over something stupid. I wan to shout at the characters to tell them if they'd ask each other when stuff goes wrong they could do away with the heartbreak of it. All in all The Complete Poems of John Milton: The Five Foot Shelf of Classics, Vol. IV (in 51 Volumes) kept me turning the pages. Such a sweet couple.
The Color Encyclopedia of Garden Plants: Annuals/PerennialsI have always been interested in history. When I got The Color Encyclopedia of Garden Plants: Annuals/Perennials I thought I would be reading some history about Istanbul. What I found instead was a novel about spies, war and love. While it is not the type of books I would normally read, it certainly held my interest. Worth reading.
Channel Islands Inshore Fishing ChartI so enjoyed Channel Islands Inshore Fishing Chart. It had me laughing and reading as quickly as I could to see what would unravel next! The story develops quickly and I enjoy how one of the characters finally acknowledges her feelings. I also enjoyed the age of the characters. Yet another well written novel by Q.Kelly!
Turkish Archery and the Composite BowTurkish Archery and the Composite Bow is short and it's very easy to read. The characters are great and you easily grow attached to them. The story is very pleasant and entertaining! I had a nice time reading it.
